First Bank of West Texas (formerly known as “Coahoma State Bank”) was chartered in 1961 in Coahoma, Texas.  In 1992, Coahoma State Bank established a branch in Big Spring, 10 miles to the west of Coahoma.  In 1993, we further branched out to Loraine, Texas, 35 miles to the east.  In October, 1995, we changed our name to First Bank of West Texas to better describe our service coverage area.  Then, in 1996, we established a branch in Abilene, Texas, which is 100 miles to the east of Coahoma.  In October, 2006, First Bank opened our newest location:  607 S. Scurry, located near the heart of downtown Big Spring.  First Bank of West Texas is growing to meet the demands of and be more convenient to our customers.

First Bank of West Texas is a full-service, locally-owned and operated bank ­ We still treat customers as people, not accounts.  We offer savings, checking, and NOW accounts, as well as personal and commercial loans at competitive rates.  We are one of the few banks in our lending area who offers SBA loans.
